APTIM Construction Manager in New York, New York

Job Overview:

Aptim is seeking an experienced and talented Construction Manager to join an existing project team that is managing the Super Storm Sandy program for a governmental agency client in New York City.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Provide construction management oversight to the Construction Manager as Agent, including client relationships, managing scope, schedule, budget, deliverables and change orders for various construction projects

  • Monitor construction progress and quality

  • Facilitate and/or coordinate resolutions to questions or other construction issues

  • Review and approve Change Orders

  • Participate in project meetings and planning sessions

  • Serve as a liaison with client and construction management teams

  • Monitor coordination and execution of utility and service shut-downs and start-ups

  • Track project close-out issues

  • Management of Construction Management as Agent staff

  • Coordination and issue resolution with design firms

  • This individual will report to the project's Program Construction Director and work collaboratively with other project staff and contractor teams

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive responsible experience on a Construction Management team

  • Experience working with NYC agencies and familiarity with NYC building code and construction requirements

  • Performed project management or construction management on projects of $20 million or larger

  • Strong understanding of Primavera P6 and risk management

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in problem solving and delivering innovative solutions

  • Interacts well in a dynamic, office team environment

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • NYS PE license or available to obtain preferred

  • Residential and/or vertical construction experience, including multi-family, high-rise residential or commercial buildings preferred

  • Certified CCM preferred

  • Civil and/or Structural Engineering discipline preferred
