APTIM Air Quality Specialist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
APTIM has an immediate opening for an Air Quality Specialist with 5-10 years' work experience in the environmental field, primarily in air permitting and compliance. The candidate would be expected to assist in client management, preparation of proposals, present solutions to air quality technical and regulatory issues, and preparation of air permit applications and compliance reports. The candidate would be required to stay current on air quality regulations.
Developing emission calculations (criteria pollutants, hazardous air pollutants and greenhouse gases), gathering operational and technical data from clients and through independent research, regulatory applicability analysis (e.g. NSPS, NESHAP, and NSR/PSD), and assisting in preparing compliance and permitting documents
Knowledge of various environmental databases and EPA emission modeling software for air emission calculations
Developing scope, plans, specifications, analyses, evaluations, procedures and reports related to air permitting and compliance projects
Preparing and supervising preparation of air quality and GHG analysis in support of NEPA documentation
Building and maintaining successful client relationships
Working with clients to evaluate proposed projects for anticipated impacts, defining type of environmental document needed, and preparing proposals
Communicating of air quality technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. via oral presentations to clients and agencies, as needed
Presenting air quality and GHG analysis in client, agency, and public meetings
Training and supervising junior staff in basic air quality and GHG analysis and the preparation of sections of all types of NEPA documents
Keeping up to date and advising staff of current regulatory actions relative to air quality and GHG.
Working closely with Project Managers in implementing project tasks
Must also be flexible and willing to support other non-air related projects as needed
A degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or related discipline with 5-10 years of professional air quality experience
5-10 years of experience in the air quality, particularly industrial, consulting, or regulatory agency
Proficiency in air quality models and environmental databases required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Knowledge and understanding of local and federal air quality regulations required
Effective written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Strong attention to detail
Excellent time management skills to manage multiple activities on an on-going basis by given deadline
Experience with various computer software applications typically used within air quality disciplines including BPIP, AERSCREEN, and AERMOD modeling system
Mobile source air quality assessment experience is preferred but not required
Oil and Gas Industry experience is preferred but not required
