APTIM Technician in Tampa, Florida
APTIM currently has an opening for an Environmental Technician. This is primarily a field-based position supporting our programs' environmental assessment and remediation.
Collecting environmental samples in the field
Calibrating and using technical instruments
Work will periodically involve over site of subcontractors operation of construction equipment -- backhoe/loader, compactor, or other mechanical construction equipment
Work will consist of straightforward tasks using established procedures, with the potential for solving routine problems as encountered.
Work may often involve use of complex instrumentation or equipment and may include installation, calibration and/or maintenance of equipment or instrumentation associated with a particular job site on an as-needed basis.
The Technician will be expected to apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and will be expected to manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.
Develop and maintain records either manually or by computer method
Performs field inspections
Evaluates routing operations of recovery system operations and maintenance
May make recommendations for improvements
3 years of relevant experience in investigations and remediation (I&R) or related field experience
Local travel is required. Must be able to work independently on hazardous waste sites and meet the 40-hour OSHA physical requirements (includes wearing PPE and a full-face respirator).
Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather.
Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
High school diploma, technical school and/or some college.
Knowledgeable of applicable health and safety regulations
Certified in CPR and first aid
Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work.
Lifting and physical work will be required. Some overtime and weekend work will be required to meet project deadlines.
